Sarah Reviews: The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa

Hey guys! I know, 2 reviews in one week! It has to be a miracle...Anyway, the next series I'm reviewing is The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa. This series is four books, The Iron King, The Iron Daughter, The Iron Queen, and The Iron Knight. The first 3 books are in Megan Chase's POV and the last one is in Ash's POV, but will get more into that later. Here's a summary of the first book:

Meghan Chase has a secret destiny—one she could never have imagined…

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school…or at home.

Review:

This series was very interesting. I had not really ever read a story that takes place in this kind of world. It is not about the types of fairies you are used to. These "faeries" are manipulative and not always trustworthy. You might recognize some familiar names such as Puck, Oberon, and Titania if you read "A Midsummer's Night Dream", but this is way more interesting! Meghan is such a strong character! Throughout the story, her growth was evident as was Prince Ash's. Ash is so mysterious and brooding (like most YA boys) yet Meghan brings out the best in him and helps show him that it is ok to show your feelings. I originally thought the loved story was rushed and unrealistic. In the beginning, I really wanted her to be with Puck. However, as the story progressed I realized how both Meghan and Ash needed each other. Not only are the character relationships great but the plot and writing style are so engaging. I could not put the book down and just flew threw this series! However, the 4th book was more of an in between/companion book to introduce the spin off series. I enjoyed seeing from Ash's POV but got bored quickly and wanted to see what Meghan was doing. However, I still really enjoyed the series. I laughed, I cried, and had a good time. These are really fast reads and if you are into fantasy or enjoy a good adventure don't hesitate to pick this up! Sarah Reviews: The Lux Series (#2-4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Hey everyone! I'm so behind on reviews that I decided for series that I read I will do joint reviews. Yay!!! So today I'm review the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th books in the Lux Series. Onyx, Opal, and Origin. If you want to know the premise of the series, check out my review of Obsidian where I give a quick synopsis explaining the series.

I really enjoyed reading this series! It is so funny and action packed. I love the romance and the relationships. The characters are relatable and you grow so attached. This series definitely gets better as you go along. I love how Katy has grown throughout the series and her relationship with Dameon has grown too. I loved in the 2nd book that scene where he brought her dinner on thanksgiving and then they set up the Christmas tree. SO cute!!! However, my favorite scene would have to be in the 4th book when they are in Vegas. Those of you who read the book know what I'm talking about. I feel like this was a huge turning point in the series. By Katy and Dameon making that decision, it sealed their relationship but also sealed their fates. It showed how over the past year they have both grown and changed and throughout all the hardships they've endured, they wouldn't change a thing. I'm really excited to see where this series is headed and how the Luxen and Origins play into this "war" that has been insinuated. One downside to this series is a lot of ideas and explanations are open ended. I still don't really understand how hybrids work or what happened after Dameon healed Will or how it is even possible to become immune to onyx, but whatever, I can roll with it. I would recommend this to anyone who loves YA books. Don't let the aliens scare you away if you don't like sci-fi. It is so amazing and you won't regret picking it up. I can't wait for the 5th book! How to Get Out of a Reading Slump

Hey everyone!

It's Molly here. As you can probably tell from the lack of book reviews I've been posting, I have been in a bit of a funk these past couple of months. I've been trying to read Reached by Ally Condie but my heart just hasn't been in it. I've been reading so much dystopia lately and I'm kind of getting sick of it. I've been trying to egg myself on, saying that as soon as I finish that book I can start another book that I really want to read. But, let's be honest here, forcing myself to read isn't going to make me want to read anymore than I already don't. Since I had convinced myself that I couldn't read a book until I had finished another one, I just didn't read at all. The other night however, I got pretty sick of that and picked up one of my favorite Sarah Dessen novels and read. I am so glad that I did. If I was able to get out of a reading slump, you can too. Here are some tips how:

• Take a break. Sure, you may think that that is exactly what you shouldn't do if you're trying to finish a book, but sometimes it's what you need. Whether it's 15 minutes, or a week, breaks are always good to let your brain unwind and relax.
• Start a new book. This is what I did to get out of my funk. I really just was not in the mood to be reading another dystopian novel. There are so many good contemporary novels on my shelf that I can't wait to read. I put Reached on the back burner and decided to reread a book that I know I already love. Sometimes that all you really need.
• Don't force yourself to read. If you really just don't feel like reading a book or can't focus on anything then don't read because you just won't be happy. And not being happy sucks, so do whatever makes you happy.

Waiting on Wednesday

Today I'm trying out my first "Waiting on Wednesday", please don't be too harsh. Today the topic I want to discuss is not a new book I'm looking forward to but an upcoming book to movie adaptation. These are more common now and every book lover is always anxious for the movie and to see how much it was ruined (or not ruined, some are great!).  What I'm looking forward to is Vampire Academy, coming into theaters this Valentine's Day!

I read this book soooo long ago, that I have the original cover. I loved this book and I'm currently re-reading it and falling in love all over again! I've missed Rose's witty lines, her relationship with Lissa and I'm so excited to see it translated to the big screen. There are so many reasons I'm excited and I feel this lists does a good job at explaining my top 3 reasons I think it's going to be awesome!


1. The Cast
I'm in love with this cast! I think the casting team did an amazing job! They all look just as I imagined and they even got a Russian actor to play Dimitri, brilliant! I know they will all do an amazing job.

2. The plot
While re-reading Vampire Academy I have picked up on many important events I'm excited to see brought to life. There are so many important points to make and I'm excited to see how it is done. Not to mention seeing all the relationships between the characters, Rose's witty lines, and who could forget the lust charm scene...

3. The advertising/promotion

I know a lot of fans of the book are upset with the way the film is being promoted. I was originally skeptical but realized what a smart bunch of people we had working on the films. If the film had been promoted as a paranormal/romance/action movie, new crowds would not take it seriously as seen it recent flops with The Host and Beautiful Creatures. By playing off the comedic side of the film and making fun of the film they are bringing in a new audience. Of course we know the whole movie is not funny (despite Rose's killer humor) but also amazing and serious. The new people watching the film will then realize how epic this series is. This is why I have total faith in the people working on this film!

Wow, that was a long rant! Anyway, I think the lesson we all learned today is that they suck at school. And that the Vampire Academy movie is going to be awesome and I can't wait to see it in theaters! (most likely more than once)

Hey guys! It's been a while and I'm insanely behind on reviews. So sorry. Be on the look out the rest of the week for more reviews! (10 to be exact, yikes!) Anyway, let's get started! Oh, and also HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Synopsis: Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

Review:
OMG! Words can literally not describe how much I loved this book! Daemon is so sarcastic and I love his relationship with Katy. First of all, can we talk about how awesome Katy is. She is one of us, a book blogger! It made the book even more relatable. I loved the suspense in this book, the tension, the friendship, the romance, everything! Jennifer L. Armentrout is able to create such interesting character relationships that do not seem lame or over exagerated. She always keeps you on your toes and you are never going to be bored. Don't let aliens scare you away from this book because it is so good and there are no creepy green guys. I can't wait to see what happens next! Onyx here I come...
